Axes has the capability to re-build the specialist type of turbochargers used on WRC rally cars.
The most common of these rolling element bearing turbochargers were originally manufactured to special order by IHI ( RX6) in Japan and Garrett in the USA (GT30R) and are mostly found on Subaru and Ford WRC cars respectively. In 2020 Axes extended our support to include those Garrett turbochargers fitted to the Fiesta R5+ commonly used in national motorsport.
These motorsport turbochargers were designed to operate at the limit of performance with restricted compressor intakes and anti-lag systems of varying types over the years. As a result they are built from special components not found on production turbochargers many of which are no longer available.
Axes has manufactured some of these unavailable parts and holds spares for the most common of the many versions of these WRC turbochargers. We are often able to re-build customer turbochargers by machining shafts and repairing damaged housings which often occur with turbine failures.
We are also manufacture the specialist high temperature external heat shields used on exhaust manifolds and turbine casings of WRC cars.
Balancing and Vibration
Axes has in house designed electronic balancing equipment which is used to ensure so that all rebuilds are dynamically balanced prior to shipment.
