In addition to hot gas stands Axes has designed and commissioned a number of complete high speed test rigs for the development and testing of high speed electric motors and components, a few of these are listed below. Axes designed test systems are installed at UK locations including the McLaren Technology centre in Woking. In addition we have supplied a gearbox test system for WRC gearboxes fitted with electro-hydraulic differentials , clutch and sequential shift.
High Speed spin rig – Having la limited power capability of 11kW the system is designed for accurate measurement of the torque and power required to drive bearings and seals at high speeds up to 125,000 rpm. The system AXES designed and commissioned included an automation system and instrumentation, a high speed traction drive, test piece mounting and torque monitoring , cooling water conditioning with temperature and pressure control.
Medium Speed performance rig – This dynamic test rig is rated at 50,000 rpm and +/-125kW shat power. It uses a synchronous AC dynamometer direct coupled to a high speed epicyclical gearbox. The rig design includes 3 conditioning modules for the gearbox lubricating oil, the test piece and its power electronics. In addition to torque metering, electronic instrumentation and automation the system design includes a variable voltage DC supply system to power the test piece inverter.
High Speed performance rig – This test rig is rated at 125,000 rpm and +/-100kW and uses a synchronous AC dynamometer belt driving a high speed epicyclic gearbox. The rig design includes conditioned lubricating oil for both the rig gearbox and the turbo machine under test. In additional cooling modules for the test piece and its power electronics are integrated into the test system. In addition to torque metering, electronic instrumentation and automation the system design includes a DC supply system to power the test units inverter , the power for is recirculated through the dynamometer AC drive.
